The UnBox Festival explores and celebrates interdisciplinary practice through multiple formats that encourage conversation, interaction and ideation amongst creative practitioners. Part of the founding team along with Quicksand, Codesign co-organised the first 3 editions of the festival from 2011 to 2013. During our engagement with the festival, UnBox built a vibrant network between pioneering international and Indian artists, thinkers and performers, young professionals and entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from the new ecosystem of creative practice in India. Codesign curated the programming, with special focus on intersections of design with culture, media and content and also led the branding and communication of the festival editions across the 3 years.
“With a country struggling to articulate a vision for its design sector to be taken more seriously by the business and government communities, and a greater role for cultural and creative industries to inform the shaping of national development agendas, the festival is in a position to enable a continuous exposure to innovative experiments across the world, and showcase the best examples of such leadership in thinking and innovation in entrepreneurship within India.”
